Where Pattern Making
Meets Programming

Create custom-fit sewing patterns using parametric design. Your measurements become the algorithm, and perfectly fitted patterns are the output.

What is Mönsterkonstruktion?

In Swedish, this site is called "Mönsterkonstruktion" — which I find absolutely delightful because when you can't use the letter "Ö" in a domain name, it becomes "monsterkonstruktion.se" on the web. From pattern construction to monster construction — quite the transformation!

Today: Parametric Pattern Making

Use customizable sewing patterns based on traditional Swedish pattern-making techniques I learned at Tillskärar-akademin in Stockholm. Each pattern adjusts to your exact measurements, giving you perfectly fitted garments every time.

The Future Vision

Mönsterkonstruktion is evolving into a complete wardrobe management platform — a place to track what you own, document repairs, analyze usage, and plan your next projects. Everything you need to maintain a sustainable, handmade wardrobe.

Why Mönsterkonstruktion?

Imagine a different relationship with your clothes

What if you could have clothes that truly fit?

What if your clothes didn't need a logo to define them?

What if you could keep a style you love, season after season?

What if sewing let you predict your time and costs, year after year?

What if your wardrobe could be repaired, rebuilt, and last for years?

What if fashion stopped being something to chase — and started being something you create?

About SyNille

The person behind Mönsterkonstruktion

Nille (Chris) - SyNille

Hi, I'm Nille (Chris), a developer based in Malmö, Sweden. My nickname combined with "sy" — the Swedish word for sew — gives you "SyNille," which captures exactly what I do.

Since 2018, I've switched from buying clothes to making them myself. What started with reverse-engineering old garments evolved into something more deliberate — copying shapes, trying them on my own body, slowly learning. A T-shirt here, a pair of trousers there, until one day my entire outfit was sewn by me. Not perfect, but perfectly mine. Now my goal is to only own self-made clothes.

Later I studied pattern making properly at Tillskärar-akademin in Stockholm to understand the craft at its roots. That's when I noticed something: what looked like fashion was, in many ways, programming. Measurements are parameters. Drafting is an algorithm. Patterns are the output. As a coder, I couldn't resist the curiosity — so I started building digital tools to turn this logic into pattern programs.

This site is the result: part notebook, part workshop, part invitation. A place to learn, experiment, and take control of your wardrobe. I hope it sparks the same excitement in you as it does in me.

Learning and Sharing

I'm no expert, so my guides and methods aren't what's considered best practice. But I believe in sharing what I've learned, even if it's imperfect. Sometimes the journey matters more than the destination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common concerns about making your own clothes

Doesn't it take forever?

A pair of trousers might take 16 hours to make. But they'll last for years, and you'll wear them knowing they fit perfectly.

Is fabric expensive?

Fabric prices stay stable—typically 200-300 kr per meter. No sales to chase, no price surprises. You know what you're investing in.

What if I don't have a sewing machine?

Most people have a friend or family member with a machine you can borrow. Many libraries and makerspaces also loan them out.
